A Sacred Morning Ritual: The Daily Practice Of Gratitude In Starting My Day With God

Every day, before the world wakes up and the noise begins, I choose to start my morning with God. This sacred hour, filled with prayer, worship, and the quiet beauty of Mass is where I find peace, strength, and the healing I need to continue.

Since losing both of my parents last year, mornings have taken on an even deeper meaning. Grief has a way of arriving uninvited, pressing on your chest before you have even opened your eyes. But I have learned to rise with intention, to bring that ache to the altar, to offer it up in prayer, and to allow God’s presence to meet me right where I am.

I begin with a simple thank you. No matter how heavy my heart feels, I remind myself that waking up is a gift. I speak to God like I would to a friend, some mornings through tears, other mornings with deep gratitude. This hour is mine and His. It is where I lay everything down.

  1. This touched my heart deeply. There’s something so sacred about meeting God in the quiet before the world stirs, especially when carrying grief. Your words remind me that even in our heaviest moments, gratitude can still find a way to breathe. Thank you for sharing this piece of your morning and your healing.
